Valtènesi stretches from south to west between the municipalities of Desenzano and Salò, in the heart of the morainic amphitheater lying on the Brescia shore of Lake Garda. The area is characterized by a unique microclimate that benefits from its closeness to Italy’s largest lake.
Valtènesi comprises the “coastline of castles”, Costiera dei Castelli, and the “coastline of lemon groves”, Costiera dei Limoni, 370 square km of water and 20 km of shoreline, with an extremely slow water exchange rate of 28 years and 3,000 hours of sunlight a year. Morning and evening breezes cool the air, creating this unique wonder of a sub-Mediterranean, naturally balanced microclimate at such northerly latitudes.
Light terrain, glacial in origin, which incarnates biodiversity in its c. 67 types of soil, endowing our wines with balance and aromatic complexity.
Moniga, surrounded by timeless vineyards, facing the lake and the dawn, is the world’s northernmost location where you can grow citrus trees, olive trees, vineyards and caper bushes: the lush and laid-back home to the beauties of life and authentic human values.
